Callaway Winery (of the famed Callaway Golf name) was the first winery in the Temecula Wine Valley. It’s one of the large wineries in the valley, and its hilltop views are hard to beat. As happens at all the big wineries, service can be spotty. The views, wine, and property are well reviewed, and if you get decent service, you’ll likely enjoy your time at Callaway.
They do their tastings a little differently at Callaway. You can get a one-ounce taste of six wines for $15, a flight of two-ounce pours of three wines for $15 on their terrace, or you can hit their Wine Station.
To sample from the Wine Station, you’ll need to purchase a debit card from the gift shop. Then, simply insert your card into the machine and choose your wine. Although slightly confusing for the first-timer, it’s a fun way to try a variety of their wines.
Open daily from 10:30-6:00.
Daily wine tours offered at 11am and 1pm. Tours cost $10, and a tour with tasting is $25. The tour includes a walk through their estate, a lesson on Callaway’s history and wine making process, and a chance to finish the tour by sampling some of their wines.
Reservations are not required, but space is limited to 30 guests per tour.
Check out their Wine Tour page for full details.
